UP!

I’ve always loved Pixar movies.. and UP is such an excellent movie! Was privileged enough to get premier tickets from KY/Nuffnang last week and boy, I loved the movie so much I’ll watch it again soon!

Even though I’ve watched the trailer before this, I must say, I genuinely LMAO through out the movie, ESPECIALLY with Doug, the talking dog. I felt UP had two stories to be told – I’m not going to tell what’s the story about, but it is a bitter sweet story.

The first story was about  how two childhood friends had a dream, how they spent their lives together and when she had to move on to a better life.

The second story was about how he lived his life after the passing of his wife and continuing the dreams that they had together with his new found friends. And the only was to do that was UP.

I give this movie a 4.5/5 and a replay value on top of it! =)

District 9

To be honest, this is my first time watching a Cloverfield/Blair Witch Project type of show. It felt so much like a documentary in the beginning, it made me felt like the movie has yet to start. Lots of talking, introduction and pretty much nothing made sense. But slowly, piecing bits of information together, you get a rough idea what’s going to happen, which is always good when you’ve no idea where is the movie is heading.

I felt the beginning was very much an “are we there yet?” moment. It only got interesting from midway and then only the ball started rolling. Then came the truth, the climax – rescuing the package, getting out of there and surviving.

The part that caught my attention was the unbelievable firepower of the alien weapons.. CRAZY SHIT. I had lots of wtf moments and lol moments with the weapons’ capabilities.. Wicked! Alien technology rocks.

Sorry geekspeak.

The movie also reminds me a lot of an old movie, The Fly (1986) which had a similar story but it had prawns instead.

The protective sister said it had better storyline than Startrek but I felt it was so-so. I’d watch Startrek again but this, maybe will only start from the part where weapons were drawn.

I give this a 3/5 star – but because of the slow hype. Watch, but try not to doze off in the first 45 minutes. Enjoy the visual effects if you’re a geek!

The first time was with the usual last week. We got to know the owner, Larry, who’s a Texan (I think..) and also is a big fan of Mexican food, thus Frontera was born.

I’m not using my own photos this time because… Well I got my hands into the food BEFORE shooting them. What a photographer eh? The food has a evil mind..

Before any food intake, we must always wet our taste buds with some elixir to enhance the experience.

That sounds so advertorial, haha..

Anyways, I’ve tasted a few margaritas in my life, but most of which are quite lousy. I’ve tried an ice blended mix, which in the end tasted more of ice than alco, while others are just short of ingredients for the right taste.

Frontera’s Agave Margarita taste better than the rest with added punch. Seriously. Made with 100% agave nectar and comes in a 45ml cup (double than what you usually get outside) I think paying RM15 for this is much more worth it than the ones in the bar and clubs.

It’s said that margarita that’s made with more agave nectar doesn’t produce hangovers the next day because of lesser amount of certain alcohol in it.

On to the Appetizers. First off is chips & dips. Frontera has a few dips that would certainly able to suit every chips lover out there.

Firstly, chips & the salsa dip. For salsa/chilli lovers out there, this is definitely the one you’d want to have. Compared to Wendy’s chilli and A&W’s coney dog chilli (i know, quite outdated but that’s the nearest that I could ever taste to real chilli), this definitely taste better than those two combined.

Secondly, chips & the Chili Con Queso dip. My first experience with chips and cheese was at Chilli’s, introduced by Kelz, the cheese is served warm. I remembered that we dip and scooped like mad for more cheese, but the serving was so little (cheese) that we always wanted more.

On the other hand, at Frontera they gave us a bowl of cheesielicious cheese! Made from Monterrey Cheese, must try for cheese lovers! While it’s bottomless but it was nearly suitable for everything else we ate! (Maybe because we love cheese..)

Chips & Chili Con Queso

Finally, chips & Chili Con Carne dip. Remember the Chilli Con Quesco dip? It’s slightly similar but with cheese and onions. Me being a cheese lover, I think more cheese should be in it, but that’s just me. Other than that it tasted quite fine.

Next, still with appetizers, some real chilies and nachos! Frontera’s Nachos comes with chicken (or beef) together with preserved Jalapeno chilies and topped off with cheese is one of my favourite dish. I ordered this again during my 2^nd visit to Frontera.

Taquitos de Pollo. Corn tortillas and chicken with a slightly spicy and sour dip on the side. Wasn’t really my dish because I find the tortillas were slightly too hard (somewhat like chips left in the open for while, a.k.a masuk angin) and couldn’t taste the chicken.

Habanero Chicken Wings is my 2^nd favourite dish as an appetizer because of the sauce. The sauce is a Habanero BBQ sauce, making it slightly spicy, though still bearable to those who are chilli intolerant (because Jen tried it!). Comes with a Cilantro ranch dressing.

And yes, I ordered the chicken wings during my 2nd visit. However, I find the chicken wings were red on the inside, maybe wasn’t cooked properly, and also the sauce wasn’t that tasty as the first round I had. My parent’s comments were ‘so-so only’. Maybe Frontera should up the Habanero dosage?

Firstly my twin sisters are turning.. (counting fingers) 20. Not sure whether you consider it as 2 birthdays or one, but either ways I’m getting them a present.

Looking back, they gave me a birthday present that they wanted to have. Maybe, I shall do the same.

The 2nd birthday I’m talking about is Zouk’s. Zouk is turning 5 this year! And it’s gonna be big! Check out their deco for this Thursday.

The trial baking is just a simple process in showing how to bake and decorate it decorate a cupcake.

So, I dropped by at Cupcake Chic for a dose of sweetness.

Jaffa, Chocolate orange cake with chocolate orange glaze

Jaffa. It reminds me of my childhood candy, smarties, simply because it tastes like it. Slightly zesty as well. But I found it slightly too sweet. If you’re on a cupcake marathon, eat this the last.

Blueberry Crumble, Blueberry oats cake with oats crumble

If you’re the kind who’s health conscious, you may want to try this Blueberry Crumble. Oats in the crumble with a considerate amount of blueberry jem in the core. Tastes like muesli bars. It’s quite filling as well as oats expands with water. (actually all cupcake does, but this one even more I guess.)

Me favourite. Blackforest. Very moist and not too sweet. Berries in the middle! *nom nom nom*

Lemon Meringue, Lemon cake with meringue topping

Lemons. If you like something zesty but not sweet like the Jaffa, Lemon Meringue is the one. Very slight sour taste which comes with the lemon and chewie to the core. Yes, chewie.

Tiramisu, Coffee infused cake with cheese frosting

Finally favourite of the favourites! Tiramisu! Though I’d like to give a little suspense to you guys on the taste but.. I figured telling you guys that it tastes yummily coffee, vanilla and a touch of heaven would bore you guys. So I’d keep it to myself and wont tell you guys that this cupcake is soooooo moist and again, yummilyyyy.

So get your own, and taste them yourself.
