But I do notice that there exists a hierarchy in the clubbing scene. Rich, Show Offs and Modest. The rich are willing to spend a lot in clubs for entertainment, no surprise there. The show offs are where there are people who may not be able to afford to spend a lot, but they do just to get noticed. And finally the modest are those who want to have fun and spends at a modest amount.

Unfortunately with the economy like what it is now, a modest amount isn’t really modest anymore. I have friends who spends 300-400 bucks a night, and they do it regularly, 4-5 times a week. That’s like nearly a month’s pay of a fresh graduate!

Imagine the amount of cash I could bathe in!

After reading fellow friends blogs I found out that there’s a new way to get into clubs, in this case, Zouk.

Zouk has been Modified with the latest in A/V equipment to give the best tetno, electro, house-etro, jazzitro, and every tro you can find out there. I think I saw about 20+ LCD TVs around the whole Zouk. Must be gazillions spent into it!

Zouk has Amplified my clubbing experience for sure! Though I haven’t been clubbing for some time since all the work I’ve been involved in.

So here’s a quick introduction of the rooms.

Terrace Bar. No introduction needed here. If you’ve been to Zouk before, you’ll know where is the Terrance Bar is. A good lounging area. I was there during Nokia IAC a few months back, enjoying to the sweet music by local indy musicians. Rocks my underwear off I tell you.

Zouk, a.k.a the main room. Though it’s smaller than before but it’s layout is much more spacious than previously. The dance floor is still there and it had an upper floor, which has another bar up there.

Phuture. It sounds like one of the games I used to play, BioShock – game was set in the underwater city called The Rapture. Anyways, back to topic. It has the R&B and the Hip Hop culture written all over. Green neon lights illuminating the walls. Some what reminds me of the Fast and the Furious cars with green neon lights, pumping the air with R&B and Hip hop music.

For that opening night, DJ Goldfish was spinning the tracks. Wootsie!

Similar to the Zouk room, it also has an upper floor. I believe Phuture used to be part of the old Zouk’s main room, but I think it’s now put into better use of the space.

Next is the Velvet Underground. No change here, though I feel the music is kinda not my thing. Classic rainbow coloured people dancing in shorts kinda music. Mumbo Jumbo as the Royal says. The good ol wood dance floor is still there. Wonder whether Zouk will do a tap dancing event there. Hmm. Wonder wonder.

Aristo. The elites of the society. The cream of the crop. If you’re a VIP, you’re still not entitled to go in. You gotta be a VVIP! Aristo is basically a champagne bar, the room is shaped like a ‘L’. This room was previously The Loft. It is now the Aristo, only the rich and famous, the elites. I was privileged enough to be able to check out the room and roam around.

The room gave me the impression that I was in a bottle of champagne. Room was champagne gold on black. Very nice atmosphere.

Barsonic. Well, that room is not open until this Saturday. Which I’ll be going to check it out as well. At the mean time, do check out this Facebook Page. If you’re interested in getting into Barsonic, that’s basically your ticket into Barsonic.

Lets talk about the event itself. I and the gang was around Zouk about 9PM. With the rain and all, KL is pretty much gridlocked. We queued up, trying to get our passes before it started to pour heavily, though it’s already drizzling. The Grand Relaunching was supposed to start at 10PM, but with every Malaysian knows, it’s always +-15 minutes. I think it started about 10.10PM on my watch.

Just before the rain started to pour even more, Serena C, the emcee, started introducing the new rooms, and an re-opening ceremony by Zouk’s upper management and directors.

Unfortunately, I had something on the next day so I had to leave by 12.. It was quite a good event, and I’ll be back there this weekend for the launch of Barsonic!

I am dead tired

Besides the sore fingers, the bruised knees and the aching back.. I got myself another 850 photos to go through. BLEHH. The last time I had that many photos was during the Project One Charity Contest, 900+ photos.

But it was all fun.. Suki from 8TV’s One In A Million, and Reefa performed. Some acts from the movies like HellBoy, Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, the latest Mummy movie were reenacted in the event.

Lots of celebrities were there too, including some A1 GP drivers (Austria & Indonesia). Funny thing is that most of the celebrities were mostly radio personalities.. Not really big celebrities. Met a few friends as well, unimates, photographers, DGMB dudes as well.

If I wasn’t tired, I’d be clubbing tonight wei. But no teman if I could anyways. =\

Had dinna at Mungo Jerry, at 12AM. Felt so dehydrated after all the running around and shooting. Bend front, bend back. Tilt left, tilt right. All kinds of acrobatic act.. I feel like I’m the model instead of the photographer.. -_-

But anyhoo, I’m konked out. Was there since 4PM. Can’t imagine how tired is Nigel and Kelz coz they were there since 1PM.. -_- Tell me about gunghoism.

Work has been killing me up and down. Life has halted. The nights are the days, the days are the nights. And the only thing that comforts the mind is silence.

If Halloween is a trend in Malaysia, we’ll see kids running from house to house Trick or Treatin’ their way like every Hari Raya or Chinese New Year asking for angpows. Imagine little girls running around with a white cloth on top of their head (a case of mistaken identity of a tudung?) running around posing as a ghost looking for treats.

Sigh.. Would ever those days materialize over this part of the world?

Well, in true Malaysia Boleh (in blogging terms yah), we must celebrate each moment with a party! What else better than having the best in the business doing it?

I wasn’t fortunate enough to watch all the fireworks events throughout the competition but I lucky enough to catch the MIFC 2008 Finale show.

I had a great company with me. Chung Lern as my lens provider , Stephie as Chung Lern’s temaner, Jeffro as.. videoman? and Schmae as my tripod provider. *for some reason it feels like I’m using everyone of them * Anyways they were all great company. I met a few other people there as well, Raymond & Tai Yin, Ming Jian (check out his fireworks photographs!), Frances & Kevin and finally Rachel.

Understand the reasons before judging something that you don’t even understand in the first place.

Before telling this year’s results, if you still didn’t know, I’ll talk about the previous years tournaments first.

The format for this tournament is 1 team with 8 people, 4 girls, 4 guys. Each plays as a team in each gender category and under singles, doubles and team category. The top 12 (or 16, each year was different) individual scores of all events will be playing in the Masters final.

In my first year I was the only bowler who was able to play competitively because I was still under training at that time. There was another one, but lack of practise and bowling influence in APIIT, his bowling was slightly slacking, but still manageable. Khairil and I teamed up together in the doubles event and we finished 4th place, earning the college one point for the whole tournament. It was the first for the college to actually get something for this sport. Read this and this.

Only me qualified for Masters that year, but I didn’t do well. Too many games tire me out.

2nd year I had a better team to bring to the tournament but still something was still lacking, skills. Khairil had to leave the team because he graduated so the only one left is me. Thankfully new guys came along, from my newly merged class, Jin Yang, Aaron Low and Fedzwa. All were bowlers in some parts of their lives, but all were rusty. Jin Yang had the most prospect between those 3 new people.

Bowling is about skills and not strength (which is why I still can’t hand wrestle with you guys even with my bowling hand). For this year, I won 2nd place in the Singles category, behind HELP’s Eric Chai, National Youth bowler. Good result judging from my performance on that day. =) First medal for APIIT.

We did better this time also because 3 of us qualified to the Masters, me, Aaron Low, and (most likely) Jin Yang. My memory is corrupted at the moment because couldn’t remember who was playing at that time. Aaron Low finished 4th in the Masters behind 3rd by a hair. Overall, one silver, and a 4th placing in Masters.

This year. It took me 3 years to finally find a team that I could be really proud of. Well, partially, but still it is still worth a mention. We still do not have a usable girls team (sorry girls) but have a fairly good boys team. Rephrase, Men team. We were still following the previous year’s line up for girls, but we have 2 new faces for the men team, Aaron Low and Arthur Low. No, they are not related to each other, nor I am to Aaron.

Finally a whole team who knows how to bowl. It’s really a coincidence to meet these people, really through luck and timing.

On the tournament day, Aaron Low DECIDED to came late AGAIN. Yes, the previous year he was also late, but still managed to register on time. This year he didn’t come on time and missed the first Singles game. We could have a better finish in Singles if he’d come earlier.

I finished a Bronze for Singles with 190, 215, 210. Total 606, an average of 202 pins per game. Behind 2nd by 10 pins, and 1st by 19 pins. Arthur finished 4th, behind me by 17 pins. Jin Yang 11th and Aaron Low 42nd (because less one game).

In the Doubles, I teamed up with Jin Yang, while Arthur and Aaron Low is together. Me and Jin Yang finished 2nd with a total pinfall of 1114, behind 1st by 64 pins. Aaron Low and Arthur finshed 6th with 1028 pinfalls.

For the Team event we thought we were doing well in the early stages of the game. We were placed 2nd after the first game but dropped in the 2nd game. We caught up again at the 3rd game but finished 5th. Guess what, it was close! We were behind 4th by 5 pins, 3rd by 12 pins, and 2nd by 18 pins. All can tapau if we were to spare one more time. Now I really regret not sparing that simple pin.

First place was really far away with more than 200 pins from all of us.

Because Aaron Low didn’t play his first game, he didn’t have enough points to qualify for the Masters. The remaining 3 qualified. After 5 games, I (think) I finished 5th but not too sure about it. Forgotten to check the ranking. Hahaha.

It was a good day all together. Was happy that I finished with 2 medals, but could have been crying if I had a gold.
