Being already late at the check-in counter in KLIA, me and my traveling partner – Jason was rushing our way to the departure hall. We were the last few to enter the departure gate but still in time to catch the plane. Phew.

The flight was about 2 hours long and the breakfast served was like any normal airplane food but there were more bang for the buck compared with AirAsia’s food. This was my first flight with MAS for years after all, the last one could be 10 years ago.

We touched down around 11AM and was greeted by Jason’s girlfriend – Wendy and her parents. Being the usual me, I was quiet most of the time through lunch with them. ‘sides, they were talking in hokkien. They took us to have dim sum at Mega Hotel in Miri Town.

Oddly enough, Miri was famous for dim sum. Dim sum was edible but wasn’t that memorable.

I made most of my research through twitter on food and places to go. It’s always good to have local knowledge than through websites. You’d never know how old/updated are those information anyways. My rating scale for food is very basic to say the least; Can eat & Cannot eat.

After lunch, we visited the only Starbucks in Miri town after bidding goodbye to Wendy’s parents. Had the usual Lemonade while waited for Wendy’s friends – Joon Yap and KuetTai to pick us up. We check-in into Grand Palace Hotel and were relieved from our heavy bags & equipment.

Soon after the 5 of us headed to Lambir Hills National Park. I slept throughout the long and windy and bumpy roads. Bumped my head on the ceiling every few minutes though.

There was a few trails in Lambir Hills and we pick the shortest because.. because they were lazy. We were searching for a waterfall that Jason came across during his research. We ended up in Latak Waterfalls.

Of course I wouldn’t go anywhere without this little fellow.

Imitation is a norm in Miri as well..

In the evening, we went to Marina Bay (why is that name so common?) to catch the sunset. We were early so we spent some time on our own taking photos and just enjoying the view.

Although it was cloudy, the sunset was still beautiful.

I’m a big fan of sunsets and I do get kinda picky with the sunsets I’d like to take. That day’s sunset was great because of the location with the strong breeze from the sea.

Come to think of it, the strong breeze was annoying because lots of vapor ended up sticking to the lens. Ended up with lots of dotted shots with the small aperture.

I took one last photo just before dinner on another sea front.

I’ll be back, 36 hours later. Hopefully, if I’m fat enough that is. Else, will stay longer.

Side note: my engine oil was quite low earlier (12AM). Drove 5KM to the nearest Shell (coz the one within 200m was closed) and bought two bottles of regular engine oil (coz credit card minimum charge is RM20). Had a little debate between me and myself on how much to buy. Then figured out since my car is 1.3l I don’t need more than 1 liter to last for the trip.

Turns out I was right. Hahaha. Lucky guess.

Bus leaves at 10AM, taking the Aeroline. Will be in Singapore about 4-5PM. I hope. Heard that immigration is a bitch lately. Haha. To do list and To buy list is quite long, thanks to everyone who’s telling me to buy this buy that. >(

I gotta get a wallet for my mom too.. Hmm.. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s getting one. Heh.

Shot this photo while in the van on the way back to the hotel. It shows how bumpy the roads are in Siem Reap. The condition of the roads are quite bad in the center of the city with all the constructions and heavy vehicles moving about. The city is undergoing a massive make over, but in the process it makes the whole city dusty with mud, polluted water and etc.

I’m officially back from Cam-boh-dee-ahh. Trip was not bad, but family ended up with food poisoning.

Taxi arrives at 4AM.

7AM is the flight to Cam-body-ahh.

Takes 1 hour to go there.

After getting the green light from parents (well kinda..), I found a bus which had ONE seat left. Quickly bought it with a credit card.

Now the funny thing about it is.. I think, I got the seat for free. Not entirely sure yet but I’ll confirm with the bank soon, after the holidays.

It goes like this, selected the date, time and seat. Entered the credit card details on the Aeroline site, came to the banking website to reconfirm the credit card details again. I wasn’t entirely sure that I’ve picked the right bus time, so I clicked cancel in the banking site. After that it brought me back to Aeroline’s website. Now it says that my booking has been confirmed. Must be some kind of bug.

So the booking is confirmed, and got my confirmation slip. Now since I canceled the transaction on the bank website, I think the ticket could be free.. Haha.. But anyways, I’m sure they won’t overlook this, and I’ll be expecting a call to confirm everything la. Hahaha.

Among the bands playing, Alaling And The Kaya Koks was one of the interesting ones. The song caught my attention throughout the night is this.

The Facebook Song. Haha.. Sounds cute but can get a lil annoying if listen too much.

We had our Satay celup session at Hwei Ming’s place, which was quite cozy! I wish I had a big hall to fit 22 people in it as well!

I didn’t bring my camera this time *unfortunately* but I enjoyed using the house owner’s Sony Alpha A350. Took quite a number of good shots, but not really sure how it will turn out after processing. Gotta wait for the owner to process first.

Anyways, the highlight of the night was the group photo taking session and the water behloons.

So as you can see group photo session was fun. There were more actions and am going to let Nigel to make a post on that alone. All kinds of boy vs girl kinda photos.

Water balloons were fun too but too many people were SICK and didn’t want to get wet. Sick kenot get wet meh? Getting wet gives you miracle cure ok. Those who were not sick got VERY VERY wet.

Oh and a surprised at the party. Amy came back! Only me and hwei Ming knew about it, so we kept it as a surprise for everyone.

Anyways a few couldn’t come, particularly Randy. Wish you were here dude. It would be much more fun. =)
