Photography & Copyright

Was having a chat with my college mate about my ICCG photos when he told me about what dirty tricks that the marketing people do for stock/event photos. It seems that the someone/some educational organisation acquire photos from people like me (direct or indirectly) but does not credit us when they are supposed to.
They must understand that we spend thousands on our dSLR equipments, not just a few hundreds like a compact or a prosumer camera. And we do have to use extra money for maintenance. I understand if they can’t afford to pay us, but at least give some allowance or some sincerity/credit where necessary.
Of course this extends to other people’s photos as well, dSLR or not.
If the photos we gave has watermark placed in it please leave it intact. If you require a non-watermarked one just ask us for it. While we may or may not charge for the photos, the fact is that the photos still belong to the owners. Not you.
All the talk about plagiarism!!
Although you may not notice, it’s some sort of publicity for us photographers when our photos go out to major streams. It may create opportunity to us and isn’t that what you want for your students? Please next time give proper credits, else face possible legal issues.
PS: No offense to those who paid in 4 digits for these cameras, I’m just trying to make a point.
